 3rd Annual Leduc Dragon Boat Festival - July 17 - 18, 2010

The 3rd Annual Leduc Dragon Boat Festival is excited to bring the sport of dragon boat racing to the City of Leduc for the 3rd year in a fundraising partnership with the Black Gold Health Foundation.  This community focused festival will include a diverse mix of participants, competing on July 17th & 18th, 2010.

Individuals, groups or complete team registrations will be accepted as we will work to ensure that all willing participants have a team to compete with.

All coaching, paddles, equipment, and support are provided. No experience necessary!

Spectators are welcome and admission is free!  Bring the whole family, spend the day.  Food vendors and entertainment will be on-site in addition to races throughout the weekend.

The 3rd Annual Leduc Dragon Boat Festival is proud to continue support of the Black Gold Health Foundation.  100% of the proceeds go to support the Black Gold Health Foundation.

Established in April 1993, the Black Gold Health Foundation raises funds to support new technology, specialized equipment and innovative programs to ensure the best medical care to the residents of Leduc and area.  While working with the Capital Health Authority, the Black Gold Health Foundation is able to enhance the quality of medical services available at the Leduc Community Hospital, and the Health Centers of Beaumont, Leduc and Thorsby.  Organized by a volunteer Board of Trustees, the Black Gold Health Foundation relies on special events such as the Leduc Dragon Boat Festival, in order to fulfill their vision of the citizens of the region having the highest quality of health care services.

In 2009, the Leduc Dragon Boat Festival was a recognized  Dragon Boat Canada qualifying event for the race offs held at the 2009 Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships in Montreal.

Two local teams from the Edmonton Dragon Boat Racing Club (EDBRC) with paddlers from Leduc County, Edmonton and surrounding areas raced hard at those championships and qualified for the 2010 Club Crew World Championships in Macau, China and the 2010 Commonwealth Club Crew Championships in Penang, Malalysia.
